Abstract: The Brazilian coast between the states of Sergipe and Rio de Janeiro (Figure 1) is considered the most important breeding site of the loggerhead turtle, Caretta caretta in Latin America (Marcovaldi & Marcovaldi 1999), with over 5,000 nests laid annually (Marcovaldi & Chaloupka in review).
