UNIDADES DE CONSERVAÇÃO NA PROTEÇÃO DA TIRIBA-DO-PARANÃ, Pyrrhura pfrimeri (AVES: PSITTACIDAE) NAS PAISAGENS CÁRSTICAS DA BACIA DO RIO PARANÃ

Abstract

A tiriba-do-paranã, Pyrrhura pfrimeri, é uma ave endêmica das fl orestas estacionais deciduais estabelecidas nos relevos cársticos da bacia do rio Paranã, na região central do Brasil. A espécie é ameaçada de extinção em nível global e nacional na catogoria “Em Perigo” devido à redução e elevada fragmentação populacional. Unidades de Conservação (UCs) são instrumentos estratégicos para a preservação da biodiversidade brasileira. Deste modo, é objetivo deste estudo analisar a representatividade da proteção legal de P. pfrimeri em relação às UCs existentes ao longo das paisagens cársticas de matas secas da bacia do rio Paranã, entre os estados de Tocantins e Goiás. Por meio de registros primários obtidos em expedições a campo e de registros secundários compilados na literatura e em plataformas de ciência cidadã, constatou-se que P. pfrimeri é protegida legalmente, sob diferentes graus de proteção, por cinco UCs: Parque Estadual de Terra Ronca, Floresta Nacional Mata Grande Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) Nascente do Rio Vermelho e APA Vale do Rio Manso, todas em Goiás, e RPPN Aurora Natura, a única em Tocantins. Outras três UCs estaduais planejadas: Parque Estadual Serra da Prata, Parque Estadual de Aurora e Parque Estadual Vale do rio Palmeiras, caso criadas, podem aumentar consideravelmente a proteção legal sobre a espécie, condição também ampliada com criação de novas UCs do tipo Monumento Natural, Refugio da Vida Silvestre e RPPNs. Um aumento da proteção legal de P. pfrimeri pode contribuir para o estado de conservação de uma das mais ameaçadas as aves brasileiras.

Goias Parakeet, Pyrrhura pfrimeri (Aves: Psittacidae), conservation within protected areas (conservation units) in the karst landscapes of the Paranã river watershed. Th e Goias Parakeet, Pyrrhura pfrimeri, is an endemic bird of seasonal deciduous forests established in the karst reliefs of the Paranã River basin, in central Brazil. Globally and nationally, it is categorized as Endangered, due to the populations drastic reduction and high fragmentation. Protected areas (Conservation Units, UCs, hereaft er) are strategic instruments for the preservation of Brazilian biodiversity. Th us, the objective of this study is to analyze legal protection eff ectiveness for P. pfrimeri in relation to existing UCs along the dry forest karst landscape of the Paranã river basin, between Tocantins and Goiás states. Th rough primary records obtained in fi eld expeditions and secondary records compiled in the literature and on citizen science platforms, we found that P. pfrimeri is legally protected, under diff erent degrees of protection, by fi ve UCs: Terra Ronca State Park, Mata Grande National Forest, Nascente do Rio Vermelho Environmental Protection Area (EPA) and Vale do Rio Manso EPA, all in Goiás State, and RPPN Aurora Natura, the only one in Tocantins State. Another three state UCs planned: Serra da Prata State Park, Aurora State Park and Vale do Rio Palmeiras State Park, if created, could considerably increase the legal protection of the species, a condition also expanded with the creation of new Natural Monument, Wildlife Refuge and RPPNs UCs. An imminent increase in the legal protection of P. pfrimeri could improve the conservation status of one of the most threatened Brazilian birds.
