A GEODIVERSIDADE DO MUNICÍPIO DE JOÃO CÂMARA/RN: VALORES E POTENCIALIDADES PARA O GEOTURISMO

Abstract

O tema geodiversidade possui grande relevância para os estudos geológicos e ambientais do planeta, este representa a diversidade dos elementos abióticos presentes na Terra, como solos, minerais, rochas e fenômenos geológicos. Sua relevância transcende os limites acadêmicos, pois influencia diretamente em questões ambientais, culturais e econômicas. A compreensão da geodiversidade é crucial para a prática da geoconservação, que visa preservar os elementos geológicos e seus processos, protegendo a integridade do ambiente. Simultaneamente, a geodiversidade se torna um recurso valioso para o geoturismo, promovendo a apreciação e interpretação dos fenômenos geológicos por visitantes, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento sustentável de áreas com potencial turístico, assim ainterconexão entre geodiversidade, geoconservação e geoturismo destaca se como uma abordagem integral para a compreensão, preservação e aproveitamento sustentável dos recursos geológicos do nosso planeta. A partir deste contexto o presente trabalho visa identificar e correlacionar os pontos geologicamente importantes, que tornam o município de João Câmara uma região rica em geodiversidade, enfatizando as suas potencialidades geoturisticas. Para isso, foram analisados materiais bibliográficos já existentes que conceituem e abordam a temática apresentada, além de periódicos, publicações, livros, revistas, entre outros. Posteriormente foi realizada uma atividade in locu, para coletar informações e evidenciar as peculiaridades locais, com ênfase na Serra do Torreão, Comunidade Indígena do Amarelão e a Falha de Samambaia. Por fim, a construção deste trabalho resultou na comprovação de que existem particularidades que tornam a região atrativa para o geoturismo sustentável, visto que o território contempla valores culturais, estéticos, científicos e educativos que estão presentes no conceito da geodiversidade.

The topic of geodiversity has great relevance for geological and environmental studies of the planet, it represents the diversity of abiotic elements present on Earth, such as soils, minerals, rocks and geological phenomena. Its relevance transcends academic limits, as it directly influences environmental, cultural and economic issues. Understanding geodiversity is crucial to the practice of geoconservation, which aims to preserve geological elements and their processes, protecting the integrity of the environment. At the same time, geodiversity becomes a valuable resource for geotourism, promoting the appreciation and interpretation of geological phenomena by visitors, contributing to the sustainable development of areas with tourism potential, thus interconnection between geodiversity, geoconservation and geotourism stands out as an integral approach for the understanding, preservation and sustainable use of our planet's geological resources. From this context, this work aims to identify and correlate the geologically important points, which make the municipality of João Câmara a region rich in geodiversity, emphasizing its geotouristic potential. For this purpose, existing bibliographic materials that conceptualize and address the theme presented were analyzed, as well as periodicals, publications, books, magazines, among others. Subsequently, an on-site activity was carried out to collect information and highlight local peculiarities, with an emphasis on Serra do Torreão, the Amarelão Indigenous Community and the Samambaia Fault. Finally, the construction of this work resulted in the proof that there are particularities that make the region attractive for sustainable geotourism, as the territory encompasses cultural, aesthetic, scientific and educational values that are present in the concept of geodiversity.
